Downtown River Jam

Downtown River Jam (DRJ), at the RiverMarket The Hammers will play from 6-8:45. This is an unforgettable Blues band that knows how to rock the place. They are based out of Southeast Arkansas and definitely consist of journeymen musicians. The lead guitarist, Jerry McCoy, founded the group. Jerry has performed and recorded with the Allman Bros. Band, Dickey Betts Band, Ronnie Milsap, and even Porter Waggoner. McCoy was inducted into the Mississippi Blues Hall of Fame in 2011 as a Master Blues Musician. Bass Player for the group, Ben Thomas, has toured the country for the last 30 years. He had some success with the country band “Diamondback,” among others. Steve Clampit, drummer of the group, grew up touring with his dad Jed Clampit, and bands such as “The Cate Bros” playing college venues, nationwide. Front Man, Chester Paul Huntsman, has been “putting on a show” from New Orleans, to San Antonio, and all over the chitlin circuit across Mississippi. Huntsman played with Mississippi blues men like, Willie Foster, T-Model Ford, and Mississippi slim. The Hammers are known for their hit song “Whistle Blowin,” which went to #1 on Internet radio “blues genre” for 13 weeks.

Monroe Farmer’s Market

The Farmer’s Market is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday from 6am-1:00pm. The Farmer’s Market always has your local fruits and vegetables fresh and in plentiful states. The beginning of June was their pump-priming stage and they are now in full swing with fruits and veggies such as squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, plums, potatoes, blueberries and okra.
